PRAY Cap by Kwame Adjaye

Dear Diary,

Spring is finally here, and I am happy to share with you my new favorite accessory… the PRAY cap by Kwame Adjaye. It has a perforated leather brim, red leather underbrim, and four metallic eyelets. Not to forget that it is an all black cap, with a white contrast embroidered “PRAY” font in the center.
Why I am so obsessed with this cap? I’ll let you be the judge of that!

CHAPTER 1: “Best advice ever. In my darkest times my mother told me the only escape was to PRAY.
When things started working out great, the only advice was to PRAY. We all have stories about
answered PRAYER(S). Sometimes we doubt GOD exist. Sometimes. Thank GOD for our Mother’s
Prayers. I thank GOD for mine. PRAY.”

CHAPTER 2: “Three summers later, a son is depressed to the point of reclusion from hitting wall after wall
in every attempt to make the Sons Of Elizabeth dream a reality. I asked in frustration; what to do to see
the dream come to life? A workaholic brother who has such a finite vision of what the brand should stand
for, it sometimes seems the brand is at a standstill. I’m stressing, what to do while in labour? Feels like i’ve
been pregnant with this SOE baby for a hundred trimesters, something has to give. How do I challenge
myself! through the dull days and nights of wait? FTG is grinding the wheels of fortune and is putting a roof
over my head, temporarily, but still. I got to feed the beast; dormancy is not my strongest suit.”

CHAPTER 3: “Finally, FTG and I had an aha!-moment. The praying hands, embodied everything that we were raised to believe. Momma raised us. How surprised was I when her sincere recommendation to the disconcerted stated I was living in was to pray? So here, you have the literal manifestation of the beauty of my frustration. A thinking cap for a reminder; the oft-ignored concept of prayer in an increasingly secular world. The limited production strap-back hats to express the arduous process of chasing one’s passions and
dreams. PRAY.”

Since the cap is such a classic piece, I went all out with some major print action!! Purchase yours at kwameadjaye.com

Feeling Loose

Dear Diary,

As much as my skinny jeans look lovely against my derriere, and as much as they are a staple that go with any blouse, sweater or outerwear I may have in my closet… it’s time for me to give up my circulation cutters for some slouchy bottoms. The weather has been pretty chilly lately, and all I think about is warmth and comfort, but this does not mean it cannot be done in a cute way!

Prabal Gurung for Target.

Dear Diary,

Florals, summer brights, black and white contrast, and accessories. A few of the things Prabal Gurung is blessing us with, through his target collaboration.  Prabal is a Nepalese- American fashion designer, who is known to make a busy print into a chic, and romantic garment. The theme of his collection is based on love, and so have the past collections. His runway price points are through the roof, hence it being comforting to know you can get similar pieces ranging from $35-$200. This is a major steal if you ask me. I shall definitely be making an appearance at my local Target. See you February 10

The Winning Shoe

Dear Diary,

I purchased a flared jumpsuit over the week that I was ready to take for a spin, but before I did so, I  played “pick my shoes” with my Instagram  followers on Friday afternoon. There were 3 shoe options, and they had to choose which one would suit the attire best. Thanks to their funky pick, I strutted my stuff in the pop of color platforms and received loads of compliments! Let me just say, my folks on instagram know their FASH-UHN honey! *snap snap*

Givenchy Had A Baby

Dear Diary,

During Autumn/Winter 2011, all I kept seeing were animal faces plastered onto garments coming down the Givenchy runway. Before I knew it, the trend spread through the streets like wildfire.

The thing I loved about Riccardo Tisci’s collection is the fact that a lot of the pieces could be worn separately. The only problem is, they break the bank lol.  Thanks to Forever 21, I found a more budget friendly option last summer, that I cannot get enough of.  Here are the different ways that I styled my tee.

Look 1: Back to School

Worn with: ZARA boys flannel, perforated track shorts, COMME des GARCONS sneakers(also  HERE).

Look 2: Casual-Chic

Worn with: ACNE high waist skinny jeans, LUXURY REBEL kenny pump (on sale), H&M necklace, TOPSHOP earrings,  ZARA clutch.

Look 3: Grunge

Worn with: Wide brim fedora (purchased in London),  ZARA faux leather skinny pants, ROMWE boots, FOREVER 21 denim shirt (seen HERE).

Moschino Fall 2013 Collection: Menswear

Dear Diary,

Why must men go for the same ol’ boring solids in Fall? Just like ladies, they are entitled to mixing/matching, and Moschino has proven that by adding fur collars to tartan coats, pairing leather jackets, bow ties, with tapered brocade pants, and adding satin lapels to novelty print pantsuits for your night time extravaganza!
Here are some of my favorite picks from the collection.

New Year, New Beginnings

Dear Diary,

Crazy how quickly 2012 came to an end, but i’m grateful to still be alive and have all the amazing supporters on my blog, and for that I say thank you to each and everyone of you! I am still growing as a writer, and brainstorming on ways to keep you guys entertained on the blog. Some revamping will definitely take place. One of my New Years resolutions is also to make sure I update more frequently than I used to. The procrastination must come to an end from today onwards lol.

My roots were getting a tad too dark, so I finally got my hair redyed. What do y’all think?

Special thanks to topshop for allowing me to visit their showroom location in L.A. I got this khaki contrast hem skirt.

Paired it with my white fringe Zara blouse, that you may recognize from my champs elysees post.

ZARA fringe blouse, TOPSHOP contrast hem skirt, FOREVER 21 leopard brogues (also worn here), FOREVER 21 earrings.
